Hey y’all, I’m looking to get my MMC and I’ve been going through all the steps, sent out my application for TWIC and enrolled in my STCW classes etc… And now my ass is biting the seat because I’ve been told FBI background checks evaluate credit score and collections as potential security threats.
My record is clean as can be next to a couple speeding tickets, never been convicted of any felony or crime of the sort, but due to some shitty life events I’ve lost 2 apartments and stacked 10G in collection debts. I was hoping this new career would give me a substantial income to take care of that. But to my understanding the TSA may see that as a conflict of interest. Am I freaking out over nothing? Or should I refund my STCW courses. Cause I’ve put in a lot of $ and time here, and I’m worried it’s about to blow up in my face cause of this.
