You guys have to forgive me, I grew up with the old stuff. First song that got me hooked was The Dope Show when Mechanical Animals was just out back in 1998. I was 10, about to turn 11. I ventured into Antichrist Superstar and then Portrait of an American Family. I was a young teen when Holy Wood came out. They were my first favourite band and I lived for them. The Golden age of Grotesque was the last "good" album to me and it took me a few years to agree with EMDM. I fell back in when The Pale Emperor came out (who can resist well done blues rock?) and I really liked Heaven Upside Down.
Being a survivor, I was quick to drop him when the allegations cane forth. I've tried keeping up and latest news says we got another Johnny Depp-style case on our hands. Either way, I'm allowed to appreciate what I grew up with and what got me through my kid and teenage years, right? So I'm revisiting the classics.
I decided to check out WAC and I was disappointed. It's... I don't know, really. Maybe it's because I grew up with the triptych and those albums are among the best in the genre, or even just the style, so I'm used to things being too good, you know. I just don't like We are Chaos. In my opinion it's too soulless, generic and boring.
They've said more than once something sounds like Mechanical Animals, but nothing really comes close to it.
Sorry for the ramblings of this old timer, just wanted to share my thoughts.
