I have this gorgeous mature Japanese maple in the middle of my yard but am concerned about this spot where it looks like it wad maybe damaged and poorly pruned in the past. Should 1 further trim this area to prevent rot or just leave it be? Also, if I plants these azaleas in the last photo this close to the tree do I run the risk of killing this tree?
