Post Body

Hi everyone! I've owned reptiles for years but am interested in getting a mantis soon. I'm thinking of either a ghost mantis or spiny flower mantis (open to other suggestions though). I've done the research, the only thing I don't fully understand is feeding. If I buy a fruit fly culture, do I need to do anything for it (like keep giving the flies food or something), or will they just survive for a long time without me having to do anything specific? I'm also wondering how to effectively transfer the flies to the mantis enclosure without them escaping everywhere lol. I read that you can put the culture in the freezer for a couple of minutes to stun the flies without killing them. Is that accurate?

EDIT: Thank you all for your help! I got a tiny spiny flower mantis and was able to feed it some fruit flies! I loved watching it eat!
