Dead fruit flies

So I looked at one of my fruit fly cultures and noticed A TON (like literally 90% of my flies) dead at the bottom. I believe they laid eggs because there’s a bunch of little white specks in the fibers and in the bottom too, but i’m not sure since its my first time having a fruit fly culture. What should I do about this in terms of feeding my mantis? Should I wait for the white specks to hatch and use my other cultures?
