Some questions about Ghost Mantis care
Post Body

So this is my second post on the sub and my friend has really "talked" me into getting a Ghost Mantis. For clarification when I say talked me into I mean, I have always wanted some kind of mantid pet and she's like I'll buy you the most expensive part of the set up to make it a little easier on you. So this is a situation where I am fully onboard with getting it and I am not just giving into peer pressure. So this means I'm going to do it and honestly I am so excited. I grew up surrounded by standard green praying mantis's because my Grandfather maintains a very large beautiful garden in their backyard and they would just flock to take advantage of the hiding places and easily accessible food. So I have loved these tiny creatures for as long as I can remember.

I do though have some questions coming into this that I want to ask to people because she is only 6 months into her own ownership of one, so she is still kind of learning too.

My first and most important question to me at least is, should I get some kind of thermostat that will shut a heating device off when the habitat is at optimal temperature?

If I should get one, can you guys recommend one?

I tend to be a very minimalistic person in terms of tank design for any kind of pet so I am not worried about over decorating per say, but I would also just kind of like advice on kind of where the line is between this is functional and what the mantid needs vs ooo look pretty.

In line of the decorating question, what are some good things that are good for ghost mantids and the inverse what are some things I should avoid?

Thank you guys in advance for the help, and I really can't wait to start posting more once I get my little one. Also feel free to chime in with stuff that I didn't ask, I probably have more questions I forgot. So just feel free to tell me stuff you think is important also.
