I'm /u/almightywibble, a member of the Labour Party in the Model House of Commons. We're looking both for new members of the subreddit, and also for people who wish to vote in our General Election.

What is the Model House of Commons? It is a subreddit which aims to be an online real life House of Commons, with plenty of opportunities for both fun and politics. There's a massive spread of parties, with a massive spread of views, from far-left communism, to far-right ultranationalism; even those parties which resemble existing ones are massively different from their RL counterparts. I would wholeheartedly suggest you get involved, regardless of political views or affiliations; even if there isn't a party which matches you, you can run as an independent candidate, or alternatively, if you can find enough people, you can start one of your own! It's a great hobby, which really acts to open the mind, and improve your knowledge of how the country works, and your ability to express your views.

Now, why should you join Labour? We're the parliamentary representatives of the 'pragmatic Left'. We do not seek to reinvent the wheel; only make the wheel we already have better. We do not advocate a stateless society, or communal ownership of all property, or other such hallmarks of the far left. Labour are a party of social democracy, a party for justice, equality and wellbeing. We seek not to tear down the foundations on which this country has been built on, but to force the system to serve those who it exists to serve; the people. We seek to make a country where none go hungry, where none suffer because they cannot afford healthcare, where none live as wage slaves to multinational corporations. All this, while maintaining a healthy economy, and a balanced budget.
