LOL. I have been on this subreddit for a little while now and only just read the subreddit description in detail. I see it encourages that we discuss about correlation to gender expression. It seems to be mostly about showing off our latest colours.
Well I can say I am a old (64), privileged , straight, white guy who has absolutely fallen in love with painted toe nails. My GF first painted them after Christmas one day when were in Covid lockdown and bored out of our tree. I kept them painted. Every time I took off my socks it brought a smile to my face. It is a silly whimsical thing to do that brings me great joy. I have told a few friends and am thinking of sharing with family. I am now on my second colour and can't wait for my next. I find myself checking out the nail polish aisle every time I go to the store. I want to buy every colour.
To be honest, I think it is the sort of self expression that most people associate with LGBTQ members - not of my ilk. Apologies I am generalizing a bit.
Are there any older straight guys out there who love painting their nails and have shared that fact with family? How did it go? Any advice?
My kids are quite progressive so I suspect they will roll their eyes but be supportive. I am not sure about my GF's family.
BTW. I plan to go to a salon in the neighborhood soon and will wear them on a cruise next year but that is not the same as fully coming OUT. And yes I do now it is often harder for LGBTQ members to come out than me - but it is all about context right?
