I feel like when I am not in a relationship I am lonely, but if I am on one I will be miserable, as a good chunk of my friends, work colleagues (my age), and so on are all miserable (usually a controlling partner). I also worry about people just settling for me and makes me have second thoughts about monogamy in general. I know it usually seems like most people complain about wanting relationships, but it seems overall that either way you are kinda screwed. I would also add in the pressure to socially conform in a relationship makes the costs of a relationship high. Yes there can be the right one, but it seems so Disneyesque that it seems like you are being played just to keep you in the rat race. Maybe I am cynical, but it seems like this is everywhere and judging by stuff like this even being written about on the 1930's , our awareness is just catching up with that advent of the internet. Sorry to sound negative and that is not to saying you cannot find value in things, but I read things people post about wanting a gf or even how I want it sometimes but it has been making me nauseous when I think about it. Casual relationships seem like a better idea.
