Hey r/makinghiphop,

I released the beat tape two days ago and wanted to post it here to get reactions. The tape is 12 minutes and 30 seconds. The main theme of the tape is that it's a fusion between my downtempo electronic roots and my love of jazz and hip-hop.

I wanted the tape to have no samples for melodic elements to test my own skills in composition. The rhodes is featured heavily on this tape. The plugin I used is called Mr Ray and it is a fantastic freeware rhodes. I wanted this tape to sound digital but also organic and I think I achieved that.

The last track on the tape was to add a change of pace from the boombap sound and to add something a little more fun. Hope you all enjoy. Thanks. I come to this sub often to hear what other users are doing and try to add some sound design choices while trying to keep my own sound.

PS: no the album art is not a cock. It's a logical and gate. It's anding digital and swing. and yes there is a rick and morty sample, it's not melodic though so I don't count that as cheating against my rule.
