So about a month ago the extruder on my replicator 2X suffered a major clog and was basically encased in plastic. After I cleaned it out, it’s never worked right again. I’ve taken it apart and reassembled it at least 12 times, and also picked up a replicator 2 for super cheap that I’m trying to get working.
Both of them look technically sound, except for the fact that whenever I add new filament to either, it will only feed for about an inch or so, and then just stop.
The 2x was extruding fine before I starting having a heat creep issue, but when I fixed the insulation the heat creep stopped but then the feed issue started.
The heat settings are the same that have worked for these filaments before. If I push hard on the filament it’ll start to come out of the nozzle, but stops as soon as I let go. I’ve opened up the feed motors and cleaned both the drive gear and the bearings, they’re all clean and not worn down.
What could be causing this to happen? Could it be because the weather is colder, I need to raise the temperature settings? That was my first thought, but there’s not that much of a temperature difference in my apartment between summer and winter (maybe 10 degrees), and the extruders are well insulated.
