Just inherited a makerbot 2x in pretty rough shape
Post Body

Good afternoon folks,

I was just given a makerbot 2x. Nice machine looking at the specs. This is my first makerbot. I know that the aluminum heatblock (the thingy that the nozzle screws into) needs to be replaced as it's covered in filament and appears to be burnt. Further the ceramic (i think) covers on them were in fragments, and crumpled to dust when I touched them. The heat barriers are completely fused with filament so I guess those will need to be replaced as well.

I tried googling for parts but I can't seem to find anywhere to purchase these parts. Can you guys point me towards a site where I can get the heat blocks, heat block covers, and heat barriers?

I found plenty of results on Amazon for them but they were all clearly from Chinese sellers and based on my experience with cheap Chinese electronic and car parts, I was hesitant to buy them. Are any of the ones on amazon known to be good quality? Also Fargo seemed to make some silicone blocks but those are now out of stock.

Do y'all have any recommendations for a tool to use when replacing the lining on the heating bed?

Also, knowing this clearly hasn't been taken care previously, based on what I've listed above, am I better off just buying a newer resin printer and calling it a day? It'd be great to fix this one but if it's going to cost within a hundred bucks or so of a new one, that's probably the better route.
