Post Body

Hi there, I am not sure if this is the proper place for this, and if not, I would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.

I have a project, which the computing power will be supplied by a RPi 3 B , and additional boards for driving 4 stepper motors (which needs a separate 12v). My goal is to have power so that it can run for a limited time (hopefully a couple of hours, in the event of a power outage). I also want it to be able to shutdown the RPi safely when the power is low.

I found a product which will do what I am looking for, but it looks like it is meant for more industrial use, and it is way more than what I want to spend on this project (it is $300 ). Here's the product link, I was looking at the TUP1000-5 (which has a 5v/3a output, and a pass-thru for the 12v from the power source I'd be connecting) Link: TUP1000 Info

I also thought about getting a standard APC UPS, and connecting it to the USB of the RPi, but I want to have it self-contained, as long as it's not $300 haha
