Tierpoint, ZBX Cloud, and the mainframe: your thoughts?
Post Body

About a week ago I posted about trying to find an "in" pathway to the mainframe. As luck would have it, and after a year of watching for and applying to open positions, I at long last landed a position at Tierpoint! Interview was Tuesday, offer accepted Wednesday! It's only an entry level operations technician position at essentially a gigantic colo MSP, but still: this is THE job to have! Why it's relevant here is because they directly offer IBM Mainframe managed serves. Check it out here!

Now, I did ask about that during my interview, but it was with the datacenter manager. I don't think her role stipulated an in depth knowledge of the company's services as much as it does making sure the physical datacenter is in top shape. And from what I've read, Tierpoint partners with ZBX cloud to deliver DRaaS services. She mentioned there was an IBM vendor who comes in every now and again but didn't know much more. And from the website, it looks like tierpoint offers monitoring and OS initialization / maintenance on Z platforms.

All that being said: does anyone know more about what tierpoint does with Z? Has anyone got any experience with Tierpoint and Z? Despite this being an entry level position, I KNOW there are opportunities at this company. This job is my platform to get where I want to be. Any tips or advice on how to zero in on mainframe opportunities would be greatly appreciated!
