Trying to build an EDH deck, need suggestions

Fair warning, I’m a complete noob and haven’t played much since kaladash.
I don’t have much, and I’ve wanted to get back in since a good friend of mine quit magic. I can show off a couple of cards from my current deck, but I’ll make it easy on the deck idea. It’s a major board control with cards like stuffy doll, creepy doll, and voodoo doll to fight for control. The plans are red, white, black. I have a lot of board control, but not much else. Any good ideas on how to improve my trash ass self?
