Just to give everyone some background on me as a magic player: ive been playing since about August, and mostly Commander (i know a lot to take in for a newb!) and Arena. Most of the time i played with my cousin and his friends when i could. I started attending Commander events at local stores at the start of the new year. Overall its been fun, even if i get stomped!
Decided to attend my first GP in Toronto this weekend and wanted to share some insights and thoughts:
The magic community is very inclusive. ive never been to a convention or large gathering of people where everyone is so approachable. it was very nice as a new player. im excited for next years GP so i can run into the same people again.
Commander players are overall very welcoming and accomodating. people would help me out when i had questions, explain things and help make sure i got things right. there were a few salty players but a majority were very awesome.
Had some issues with events: commander pods got messed up a couple of times for me and often events didnt start on time which can be a little annoying. space was also limited. i feel like the events could be run more smoothly but i have limited experience on GPs.
Overall i just wanted to say thanks to everyone for an awesome weekend. I didnt win a game outright (no combos or infinites in my deck) but i still had fun. im also left with great memories with those players that i was matched up against. (especially that 90 minute game where the opponent "won" but shouldnt have)
thanks again everyone, and if you played Staxos, that was me!
