In your opinion, which MtG tribe most closely resembles gnomes from DnD? A tribe of creatures that are kind of odd, and curious, and quirky. Magical and fond of spells, but also a bit meta-, unstable, tongue-in-cheek. Tricksters.
The reason I'm asking is that I have a DnD playing friend whom I'd love to introduce to MtG, and they are really into DnD gnomes. So in Magic they definitely won't like huge high-fantasy dragons, or angels, or zombies. They need something Pratchetterian, ironic, and just a bit obnoxious. Kind of goblins on as they are drawn by Tony DiTerlizzi, but probably not goblins as a creature type, as they are not cunning enough. The visuals are good, but the game mechanics is wrong.
So what tribe would you suggest? Ideally, a tribe that supports a casual tribal deck.
(Obviously MtG has a tribe named "gnomes", but despite a shared name, they are completely different in spirit, if you think of it)
