Hello, my name is Juniper, and as a transgender woman, I already feel uncomfortable interacting with the Magic community. However, I felt I had to speak up about the current development with the Commander/EDH Rules Committee allowing silver-bordered cards for only a few short weeks.
To start with, Commander is my favourite format of Magic, and it is my primary means of playing the game. I also love Unstable, and preordered quite a bit of it, even knowing that I could never actually play with them. Hearing the initial announcement about Commander, I was overjoyed. It meant I could actually play with all these cards that I loved! Unfortunately, the Rules Committee clarified that the cards were only legal UNTIL January, and would not continue to be. I was devastated
This is not my first experience with silver-bordered Commander. I love Transformers, so I built a deck around Grimlock at my first chance. Every other card had a black border, and Grimlock itself isn't too strange (just a little powerful). However, when I tried to show it off and ask people to play with me, my LGS' manager mocked me and told me I could never play the deck. I went home in tears.
To pre-emptively answer some questions: I do not have a playgroup (or friends of any kind) to convince on house rules. My LGS will only accept official rules (and they're currently allowing silver borders without hesitation, because the RC said it was okay). I have PTSD anxiety which flares up if I'm breaking rules.
I just want to play with my Unstable cards for more than a month. Please urge the Rules Committee to allow them permanently (with problem cards being banned as usual). Please.
