So I won our shops commander league and won a few cards. One of which is the below demonic tutor from unlimited that the store says is pack fresh they opened. Now Ive been playing since '94 and I know Unlimited when I see it. They have a darker ink and a sheen on the card while 3rd/Revised is duller and no finish on the cards. I dont recall ever seeing an Unlimited card with this sharp of text and title but it does in fact still have the mis-print of Shuler's last name (his name is Shuler and the set had his name as Schuler except two cards).

Im just wanting to verify if this card is in fact legit

*EDIT: Ok, as a follow up. I was pretty sure it was fake myself, mostly for the reasons you all have posted. I remember reading an article on Cracked.com from a person who sold fake magic cards and I went through a lot of tests. Here's what I found out and explained to the store (They were awesome and replaced it with an Archenemy Nicol Bolas)

  • Fingerprints. The fake cards (there were about 7) leave fingerprints due to the plastic finish. Older cards do not

  • Sound when it's flicked. Fake cards sound thicker

  • Light test, we all know this one. What you might not know is that older cards had red and blue fibers in them. You can see these in the older cards if your light is bright enough. Instant way to tell

  • Finally, I ripped it in half after I was absolutely positive it was fake. It was far harder than old cards due to the plastic finish. There were no fibers in the card stock.

I helped them identify 7 other cards that all came from the same guy, who they haven't seen since.
