This news is basically a non-issue; it's still possible to enjoy vintage- or legacy-like gameplay using event reporter, as an FNM if wished, without spending a fortune.

1. Set up FNM event as a custom format, which you've been able to do for a while. Call it pintage.
2. Publicise the format- it's vintage except with a much larger banlist; for example, all the power 9 are banned. There's also a different restricted list for this format. For example, Filthy Cur is restricted.
3. In Pintage, Filthy cur is errataed to be a 0 mana artifact that taps for B. There are some other errata too; moonlace, now restricted, reads "target player draws three cards", for example.
