Hi everyone! This post is mainly directed towards players newer to Magic: The Gathering, but anyone who feels like they still have room to grow in their strategic understanding of the game may also find it interesting. I run an LGS and can't help but notice how fast MtG has been growing over the last few years. This growth has brought a boatload of new players into the game, and it isn't lost on me that although MtG is tons of fun even with a basic understanding of how it functions, the learning curve to the more technical aspects of the game is quite steep. Never mind the daunting task of trying to learn what all of the cards do (I've been playing since 1997 and I still run across things I've never seen before on a weekly basis); once you sharpen your understanding of the finer details of how to play MtG, it will help you wade through the tens of thousands of cards to spot the good stuff more accurately.
I figured I could put my decades of MtG experience (and basic level of content creation skills) to use trying to create resources to help new-intermediate players accelerate their understanding of some of the more nuanced aspects of MtG, from deck-building to in-game play. So I created The Highlander's Workshop with the aim of doing just that. If you think this could be helpful to you or a friend who's just getting into the game, please consider checking out this strategy guide (and if you like it, other videos on my channel as well), and leaving me some feedback about what you liked, what you didn't like, what was helpful, and where I might have room to expand more on specific things. In other words, help me help you! I've loved MtG since I was a noob in middle school, and I want to do what I can do to help the game and the player base grow!
