I'm in the process of selling most of my collection, but I kept a lot of commander staples that I enjoy and want to have(for example, I still have a copy of sylvan library and rhystic study). I also kept some of my old cards that aren't worth much, like a copy of phyrexian plaguelord and dawnstrider. it made me think it might be fun to collect a bunch of really cheap cards that are interesting in some way - like old dragons or monsters from older sets that people have mostly forgotten. I have a copy of shivan wurm for example which used to be a staple. Has anyone else ever considered or taken an approach like this? Maybe collecting dragons or angels or something like that? I think maybe I'd want a collection where if my kids or relatives in the future wanted to just play a casual game of magic they would have a lot of fun creatures to use that aren't busted - like maybe building a collection that could be used for a budget cube.
