[Discussion] What makes MTG a game of skill rather than luck?

Post Body

I have a friend who doesn't want to play the game because he's certain the game is solely based on luck. Obviously I disagree, but can't think how to explain why it isn't.

I'd like to hear what you guys think!

Edit: To reiterate, I don't mean to say there isn't any luck involved. Everybody has top decked Bonfire of the Damned at one point. Maybe it took skill to add Bonfire in the first place.
