My son is turning 8 next week and over the past few years he has become more and more interested in playing Magic. For a bit of background my friends and I play commander every other week and rotate who host's each time. When we play at my house my son saddles right up next to us and watches us play, asks questions, and generally has a lot of fun. I started him on Pokémon last year and he's got a decent grasp of the rules, but it isn't what he sees his dad and his dad's friends play.
So, for his birthday I was going to buy him a small storage box, some boosters, and build him 2 - 4 basic decks to start out. This is where I'm looking for a bit of advice from the community. I was thinking of building 40 cards decks akin to something I would build at a pre-release. Keep each deck mono-color to start to try to and streamline and simplify things. Does this sound like a good way to introduce him to the game? Is there a pre-con product that would be good that maybe someone has heard of? Any other parents out there teach their kids Magic around this age and have any advice? I really want to foster this interest in my son so we can share even more stuff together! Thanks in advance!
