Game night or Starter packs?

Hello! My girlfriend and I are looking to get into MTG. I was curious if we should start with the Game Night or get 4 different Starter Kits. I’ve read that Game Night is good to start for beginners to try different style decks. But if we get 4 Starter Kits for the same price then we have 8 decks. Which would you recommend to get for beginners, who might want to build off those decks to play with others at game shops? If Starter Kits, which four do you recommend? Thank you!
