I'm a new to MTG (been playing commander for a some months) and decided to dip my toes into Pauper. My first 1v1 format in MTG.
I played on MTGO using a bunch of different decks for a week:
1.) Unicorn life gain: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5526809#paper
2.) Kiln Fiend:
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/pauper-kiln-fiend#paper
3.) Hexproof Bogles (my favorite): https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/bogles-df219f8f-1b57-437c-b4d8-dd4a5c7bdd7c#paper
4.)White & Black ETBs: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/pauper-orzhov-ephemerate#paper
5.)Mono Blue Fairies: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/pauper-mono-blue-faeries-f7d232c7-2c3c-4459-b219-f3e8d9abbec6#paper
Things I have learned so far: 1.) 1v1 Magic is cruel 😭 2.) My creatures will be removed no matter what especially if they are small. 3.) I'm forced to play Blue now....I've never played blue before.
I don't know how people got 4 or 5 straight wins with the first 4 decks but the only success I've had is with Mono Blue Fairies and a little with Hexproof Bogles but not much and lost all my matches with the Bogles during the Pauper league. Maybe this is a sign I suck 🤷♂️,but hey the deck was fun to play.
I'm trying to improve as a player. Learning to counter and keep my creatures on the board. Anticipating my opponent's next moves and taking full advantage when they're tapped out while being cautious when they have mana open. Making sure I don't end up top decking (I topped decked a lot when I played) and have card draw with cards in hand.
Hopefully with more practice with the Mono Blue Fairies, I can enter the league again and at least get 3 wins. That's my aim. This will be my first time playing blue, something I avoided ever since I started MTG cuz frankly.....I'm not the smartest, and I have very limited card knowledge and experience.
If you guys have any advice, let me know! Help a dumb player out 👍🤣.
