First Commander Homebrew: Meren or Chatterfang?

Post Body

I'm prepping to build my first commander deck, and I am planning on going Golgari after getting a bunch of great green ramp in my ONE draft last night and trading for [Drivnod, Carnage Dominus]. Two potential options popped up in my research, and I was was hoping to get some feedback on which sounds like a funner build for a first-time Commander (player).

  • [Chatterfang, Squirrel General] Tribal: Tokens, tokens, tokens! Roughly following the Commander's Quarter's build for this, generate as many tokens as possible, and add a squirrel with each and every one. The ideal gameplan is getting out [Drivnod, Carnage Dominus] and sacking two squirrels to make it indestructible or convoking for some massive sorcery, but the shear number of squirrels should be enough to overwhelm opponents alone.
  • [Meren of Clan Nel Toth] Aristocrats/Reanimator: Sacrifice creatures for value, and pump up my experience counters with proliferate effects like [Blightbelly Rat], [Copper Longlegs], and [Vraska, Betrayal's Sting]. With five experience and some good self-mill, I could have a [Drivnod, Carnage Dominus] returning from my graveyard every single turn, or other similarly costly (mana wise) creatures.
