As many others are, I'm re-watching the show in preparation for Season 5. I'm wondering what you all think of the scene in this episode where Don meets Bobbie Barrett in the hallway of the restaurant and she basically tries to bribe him. Don then pulls her hair, pushes her against the table and puts his hand up her skirt very, um, enthusiastically, and refuses the bribe by telling her what she's going to do instead.
Some context for those who haven't seen it in awhile, Season 2 opens with Don making an attempt to be monogamous and refuses the opportunities to have sex with a couple women. Then he meets with Bobbie Barrett (the wife and manager of an actor in a commercial for Utz chips) to discuss her crazy husband. Don offers to give her a ride and she makes a move on him in the car, he refuses at first but then gives in.
So what is up with this sudden act of violence? Is this the first time we've seen Don be really physical with a woman? The only other outburst I remember to this point is when Don wipes everything off his desk in Season 1 (don't remember the context). So why here in this moment? This is his response to being blackmailed? He thought he had control over this woman but learns that she is tricking him? He is mad at himself for cheating again and now she is adding the blackmail on top of his guilt maybe? What do you think?
