Should Don have forgiven Lane ?

I think you could probably make the argument for either side. I personally do not think he should have forced his resignation. Instead, he should have brought the issue to the partners and decided from there.
By doing that, Don would not only have given him a more fair chance but would have also made sure his own name was cleared with Cooper, who believed it was Don's check.
