First question: Throughout the series there are several couples that get married seemingly without much courtship. Trudy and Pete, Roger and Jane, Henry and Betty, Megan and Don all get hitched without really any prior relationship. I've heard a few stories about people getting married after knowing each other a very short time, but it's presented as being commonplace in the show. Is that accurate for the time period? Was it more common in the upper/upper middle class?
Second question: Was infidelity as common in the 60's as the show presents? I'm hard pressed to think of a single major character who doesn't cheat at least once, and often the affairs in the series are protracted and significant, especially when it comes to our male leads. I looked up the metadata recently and in the 21st century between 20-30% of people admit to cheating on their spouse. The show makes it seem like in the 60's it was more like 80-90%.
