My MacBook Pro 14” M1 chip shutdown and stopped working suddenly when it was plugged in for charging (I was using Apple charging brick but the USB-C cable was from Anker). I was doing just light work like browsing and taking notes; left the laptop unattended for 30mins as I was doing some chores and came back to work and the laptop wasn’t turning on and also there was a burning smell coming from left side of keypad and left fan.

I have Apple Care and took the device to Apple Store Genius Bar for diagnosis and how bad the damage is. They said they’ll call in 3-5 days after diagnosing and giving me a quote. They might even replace logic board or the whole laptop which leads to data loss in both cases.

I have some school files, notes, pdfs that weren’t backed up. Just looking for any trusted/reliable Data Recovery and repair centers.

I came across Rossmann Repair Group but was looking for any local options just in case.
