Hi, got this water damaged mac where supposedly the only issue was with the display. Found out quickly that the right shift key doesn't work, and the laptop will behave as if shift is pressed down after being rebooted. After a while this behavior will stop, or if I remap the key with Karabinder it will stop immediately (remapped key is not spammed). Pressing the right shift key never does anything, and will not highlight the key in the accessibility keyboard.
My best guess is that there might be short on the actual keyboard unit which gives constant signal to the right shift key. Thinking about just buying a new keyboard since they're pretty cheap and I need to replace the display anyway. My question then becomes: Is there a chance that this is a logic board error and I'm waiting my time and money? Since there is only one key that's broken I'd find that very weird, but though I'd ask.
I've not been able to test the mac with an external keyboard (bought an external keyboard yesterday but forgot to buy usb-usbc adapter...)
I've not been able to update OS or reinstall to see if that would help (I don't have a charger for it yet). I was however able to scan the OS disk in recovery mode, no errors.
I've tried to remove the keycap to see if the button might be physicals stuck, that's not the case.
