10 year old macbook pro overheats, I'm thinking to get a refurbished one

The Macbook I have is

MacBook Pro (retina 13 inch, early 2013)

2.6 Ghz Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

and I have replaced the battery on it, twice. The problem it seems to have is that it runs super slow at times (I have to restart it every day while working to rejuvenate it) and the computer gets really warm. I've been looking at backmarket for newer models and also just found out about headless macbooks that people connect to an external monitor. I'm trying to make a decision and get a new thing going within the next week or two, many of the macbooks I'm seeing have 1.4 or 1.5 ghz processors though, even though they're from 2019, 2020, etc! It seems crazy to downgrade my processing power on a newer machine, am I missing something?
