Should I upgrade to 16GB of RAM?

I recently bought an M3 Base Macbook Pro with no upgrades but am now considering upgrading its RAM to 16GB from 8GB. For context I am a student who uses a Macbook for photoshop editing and lightroom RAW photo editing with a bit of light video editing on the side. Should I upgrade and bite the bullet or are there any other recommendations of what I should do or is the base model enough?
