Magic Trackpad issues when connected to 16" MacBook Pro
Post Body

Hi everyone. I'm using my 16" MacBook Pro (M1 Max, 32-core GPU, 32GB RAM, macOS Monterey 12.4) in a temporary desktop setup. It's connected to two separate 27" monitors (both 2560x1440), and I'm using a Magic Keyboard (2015 model without number pad) along with a Magic Trackpad (purchased brand new in April 2022). The keyboard is working fine over Bluetooth, but the trackpad is giving me all sorts of issues. This is the first time I've used it with this specific laptop, but it works perfectly with my 13" M1 MBP.

I initially paired the trackpad to the laptop through Bluetooth. When in Google Chrome I started having issues scrolling through a PDF document. The scrolling was incredibly stuttery, and after a couple seconds the trackpad stopped responding to clicks altogether. I could still move the cursor, but I couldn't move it over to the other monitor. After about 30 seconds it started working again, but I'm still having issues scrolling in various applications.

These issues are still happening even after connecting the trackpad to the computer through a USB-C to Lightning cable. Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this issue?
