Linked is a longish video of nothing happens, where in the beginning you see all that is needed to reproduce, and at the end the computer crashes as expected.
Purpose if this post is NOT to help me figure it out - or seek support, but to expose this glaring OS bug to the world so it may be fixed one day.
Spend hours with apple support but failed to get through to engineering, so now it's public. Advisor stated they will only look at it if they can 'capture' the device. which means me being without a computer for two weeks, or me having to drive to apple store if / when they have one in stock. In both cases I'll loose my option to return this new device.
Note that device capture is not even needed as I was able to reproduce the issue on multiple computers, (M1 Max, M2), in-and-out of safe mode, and on virgin OS install (as shown in video) and send video proof of all cases to Apple.
What do you people think?
Note I would have been happy to send to apple if there was any chance it was an hardware issue, but the fact that I can reproduce it at will, on multiple computers, clearly indicate it's not a specific piece of hardware that is at fault.
I would also been happy to replace for no-good-cause to satisfy Apple, if they would send me an even exchange the day they pick up. However adviser stated I'll have to mail mine in and waif about 14 days to get a replacement. on a 6-day old computer.
How much is too much?
Hackers / Tech people: All the info required to reproduce is shown in the video, look carefully at what's on the screen ;)
Fun fact: When I mentioned to advisor that if I send it in for device-capture I'll miss my 14-day return window, so I may be safer just returning the device... and I need a moment to think about it, he hang-up the call. Steve would be turning in his grave.
Actual crash at 9m:55sec in
