Is the Touchbar any good apart from its aesthetic value?

Really confused. The new M1 Max MacBook seems like the perfect machine to upgrade to but I’ve never upgraded my laptop since 2012. Always had a Fomo wrt the Touch Bar, if I go to buy the touchbar laptops now I can easily afford them but are they worth it because the new Pro seems like it’s worth every penny from reviews.
