I have two iMacs (a Late 2009 27" and a Mid 2010 27") that I'm using in a bit of a weird setup, and I have a need to run audio through them, specifically through an input to the internal speakers. Neither of the iMacs will work with a standard 3.5mm audio cable connected to a PC via the onboard audio outputs. The iMacs see the input as a digital line in, and there's no audio coming through.
Is there any way to use these inputs with an analog source or should I simply purchase USB audio devices to get an analog input?
