2009 iMac image retention issues

One of my Late 2009 27" iMacs has been experiencing some image retention lately. It's most noticeable when using an external DisplayPort input, but it's also present in macOS.
I don't have this issue with any of my other 27" iMacs (another Late 2009, a Mid 2010, and a Mid 2011). Is there anything I could look into that could be causing this? Or is the panel itself to blame?
