The Unleashed event is over. Here's what was announced:

New M1 Chips

• The M1 has been joined by two other Apple Silicon chips
• M1 Pro and M1 Max are both built on a 5nm process, each with up to 10 CPU cores
• Both feature a 16-core Neural Engine, which offers up to 11 trillion operations per second

M1 Pro

• M1 Pro now supports up to two external displays
• M1 Pro can be configured with up to 32GB of Unified Memory with bandwidth up to 200GB/s
• Up to 10 CPU cores and up to 16 GPU cores are available with M1 Pro
• M1 Pro is in both the 14" and 16" MacBook Pro

M1 Max

• With 57 billion transistors, M1 Max offers support for up to four external displays
  • Three 6K displays are supported at once along with a fourth display running at 4K
• M1 Max can be configured with up to 64GB of Unified Memory with bandwidth up to 400GB/s
• M1 Max has 10 CPU cores, and also comes with up to 32 GPU cores
• M1 Max is available in the 14" and 16" MacBook Pro

14" and 16" MacBook Pro

• They're finally here! Apple has redesigned the 16" MacBook Pro and introduced a 14" model
• Ports are back in style, and both MacBook Pros feature an HDMI port, SD card reader, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a new MagSafe 3 charging port
• The Touch Bar is gone, replaced by full height function keys. The keyboard also has a new black design
• ProMotion has finally made it to the Mac, bringing refresh rates up to 120Hz automatically
• Liquid Retina XDR displays offer HDR support, each with higher resolutions than previous models. The 14" MBP has a resolution of 3024x1964, and the 16" MBP has a resolution of 3456x2234
• The camera in the MacBook Pro is now 1080p, though it comes at a cost that has already divided opinions. The new camera is situated in a notch at the top of the display
• Spatial audio allows for even better sound quality compared to older models
• The new MacBook Pro offers up to 8TB of SSD storage, with speeds of 7.4GB/s

What wasn't announced:

• The 27" iMac still uses Intel processors and has not been updated since August 2020
• The M1 Mac mini and M1 MacBook Air remain the same
• Mac Pro has not been updated since it was released in December 2019

The Apple Silicon transition:

• Apple Silicon was announced at WWDC in June 2020, and the transition began with the introduction of the M1 SoC last year
• Since then, the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac 24", and iPad Pro have all been updated with Apple Silicon chips
• Apple says this will be a two year transition, so there is still time for them to update the remaining products and refresh the original M1 devices
