Is a factory reset enough?

I purchased a MacBook Pro from someone on Marketplace.
I did a factory reset (Cmd R, launch disk utility, erase volume group on hard drive, reinstall MacOS, etc.) but haven’t completed the setup.
If the previous owner installed something like a keylogger or some type of surveillance, is the factory reset enough to wipe that? Or should I take it to a Mac shop to have it professionally wiped?
Edit: forgot to include that I erased the volume group.
