M1 or M3?

Hello, my friend is a film major for university but he is convinced he needs to buy the newest M3 iMac model because he uses Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. I currently just bought the M1 MBA and it's running wonders so I feel like my friend could use the M1 laptop or desktop without having to break the bank. But if there are any creatives here that use either program, please, I'd love your opinion!
