Is there a way to get an older MacBook Pro to recognize a newer iPhone in iTunes (no, I don’t want to buy a newer Mac)

Trying to get my iPhone to sync in iTunes and the only solution I’m finding is “update iTunes” which I can’t do since it’s not supported for the most recent OS I can use.
Is there a workaround to this planned obsolescence?
