[SPOILER] Does anyone else NOT want to see Lucifer actually become…

God? I talked about this in a comment on the season 6 release date, but here it is again.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t actually want to see Lucifer become God. Part of what made his situation interesting was that he’s the Devil, and that he was vulnerable and wasn’t able to control everything that happened. I was already a bit disappointed to see his vulnerability around Chloe go away. (Was it explained why that happened?) If he’s actually the all-powerful God, then where would the plot even go? Therefore, I don’t actually think he’ll simply become the all-powerful God in season 6, as Tom Ellis hinted at in this interview. (The interviewer asks, “Is he God?” And Tom answers, “We’re left to assume that that’s what’s happening next in Lucifer’s life. I think we learn that maybe it’s not that simple.”) There will be a catch. Anyway, that’s just my take, feel free to disagree. I don’t see God as a particularly interesting role for him to step in, even if it makes logical sense that he’d want it. The Devil was far more intriguing, but maybe that’s just my ex-Christian side speaking lol. Not a big fan of God as a concept.

This is kind of unrelated, but what did you guys think of what God was like in Season 5? I liked it in general, but I also felt like he didn’t seem like the same person who treated Lucifer so badly in the past. I would’ve liked to see him be a little more… flawed, instead of being calmly benevolent and mildly humorous. I mean, Lucifer was so mad at him for 4 and a half seasons. He cast his son out of heaven and into a horrible place. He probably had anger issues, some malevolent intent. In season 5, God didn’t seem like the same person who did that, so his reconciliation with Lucifer didn’t have as much impact as it could’ve for me.

I really loved season 5, so here are just some things that have been bugging me after finishing.
