How to assess dedicated VRAM and shared memory when picking games.

Post Body

So, I have an integrated Intel HD 615 128MB VRAM with about 8GB of shared RAM.

I do see games where I may have the necessary CPU requirement, storage, and RAM requirement. But the graphics vram doesn't make it there (512/256 MB of RAM).

I decide to compare my graphics card with an Intel Graphics HD 3000 that has 512MB of VRAM. Thanks u/depression420b for linking me to the starting point.

Based on VRAM space I'd expect the HD 3000 to do better, but no. Based on userbenchmark, my HD 615 does better. So, what's the deal?

My Specs:

Intel Core i5-7Y57

RAM: 16 GB

Intel HD Graphics 615

VRAM: 128 MB

Shared Memory: 8138 MB

DirectX 12

Chip being compared:

i3 2330m

Intel hd 3000 ≈ 512mb vram

4gb ram

2012-13 Sony Vaio laptop
