misleading offer from Lovense - Annoyed and disappointed

tldr - wife's ferri went faulty, lovense made extremely misleading offer and only admitted it when called out.

So I bought my wife a Ferri over a year ago but due to ill health its not really been used more than a couple of times. She went to use it the other day and after charging it the led light wouldn't turn off, let it go completely flat and then tried again with the same result. Looks like the LED is stuck on or another part has developed an issue.

Raised it with Lovense hoping perhaps they would be able to make some gesture of goodwill. Knowing it was out of warranty I didn't hold out much hope, so I was pleasantly shocked (or so I thought) for the operative to tell me they had spoken to their manager and they were pleased to offer more than 50% off the website price of any replacement toy PLUS an additional £25.

At this point alarm bells should have been ringing at a deafening volume (too good to be true comes to mind), but they were so polite that I thought perhaps they had taken the approach of trying to turn a bad outcome good. When I checked that this would apply to any toy, they replied that yes it was anything on the website and just to let them know and they would generate a payment page.

I discussed it with my wife and she asked me to enquire about the mini sex machine and if we could use the £25 off a replacement Ferri, Lovense replied that both toys could be included in the offer and if I wished to go ahead then they could sort out a total.

We replied that yes we wanted to go ahead, heads full of positive thoughts about Lovense and ready to sing their praises online.

Well then that came crashing down, the special discount was really just the price as shown on the website (given they run permanent sales it seems) without anything further taken off, the only discount was the £25.

Now had they just come out and said "we can offer £25 off a replacement Ferri as a gesture of goodwill" then I would have considered that a good outcome and probably taken them up on it. However wording something in a way that indicates they are giving you an additional discount as you are a "valued customer" which then turns out to be utter bs, well thats different and leads a sour taste in my mouth. I don't like being lied to.

I took this up with lovense who apologised and then offered an actual additional ££ discount, however the experience has left us with negative feelings towards Lovense, feelings that were generated due to the use of deceptive practices when there was no need to resort to this.
