Max 2 help (suction)

OK on my max 2 when suction mode thing is on on just tightens and tightens,
is it supposed to keep getting tighter the only way I found to relive pressure is to manually do via the button on top, is it supposed to be automatic or manual ?
(increasing suction and then decrease on its own or do I have to do that?)
