i am deeply insecure about my music tastes. in short, this stems from some pretty severe bullying by parents and exes.
they expressed interest in my music so i gave them my 2020 top 100 and we listened to it together. they said it was attractive when i sang at some parts because i was happy. they wanted to listen to it in order, to “understand me.”
yesterday, i made another playlist, just for fun. posted it to my private instagram (15~ followers, including them) and today i went to hang out with them.
they opened spotify to put something on and up flashes my playlist, in the middle of a song. “oh, i’ve been listening to it for a while.”
we were playing a video game with this playlist in the background. a song is playing, and they start singing the words flawlessly. i’m shocked, but i sing with them. i am happy.
i feel like i gave them a peace of me, a shard of broken glass, and they cherished it. when others who had the fixed product threw it on the ground.
oh how in love i am.
