Guardian or Mariner for main class?

So I’ve tried out pretty much every class and I’ve narrowed down to Guardian and Mariner. Which offers better group utility and strengths to keep everyone alive?
I know both are unique in their own respective roles or abilities, but does one have more popularity than the other? Does one have more overall usefulness for solo and group play?
And which one has less button pressing/combos to worry about?
