Mariner or Runekeeper for a fun and easy DPS playstyle?

So my options have narrowed down to either Mariner or Runekeeper in terms of overall DPS. Which offers more interesting abilities and a fun time that seems easy enough for story stuff and group content if I’m with randoms or friends?

Ideally, I’m looking to build a strong DPS spec that also has some survivability in a way or at least seems like a fun kit that is easy for rotations.

I used to play captain and champion classes but was getting bored with melee style combat a litrle, although I enjoy pirate themed classes and necromancy and warlock (or dark wizard) themed classes.
